EAC HQs, Arusha, Tanzania- June 8th, 2026-The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Committee on General Purpose (GP), chaired by Hon. Dr. Abdullah Makame Hasnu commences its sittings at the East African Community (EAC) Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, to scrutinize the proposed EAC Budget Estimates for revenue and expenditure for the FY2026/2027 and Supplementary Budget for the Financial Year 2025/2026. The EAC FY2026-2027 Budget and the Supplementary Budget for the financial year 2025/2026 were both tabled on 1st June, 2026, by the Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, the Chair of the EAC Council of Ministers.
The General-Purpose Committee will engage key stakeholders, including representatives from the EAC Secretariat, Heads of EAC Organs and Institutions, members of the EAC Budget Committee, and technical teams for the next ten days, highlighting the importance of coordinated input in the budget approval process.
The scrutiny and deliberations aim to ensure that the EAC budget aligns with the Community’s strategic priorities, enhances service delivery, and supports regional integration initiatives for the benefit of all Partner States.
