Sad day for EALA in football and volleyball

East African Legislative Assembly, Bujumbura, Burundi: December 6th 2018:

Parliament of Tanzania shocked East African Legislative Assembly 2-0 in an entertaining match played at the Centre Technique du Football, Ngagara. Striker, Benjamin Simkanga scored a brace in the top-billed clash. Parliament of Tanzania were the better side dominating the better part of the match from the start. Hon Costa Chumi, Chizzar Aman and Ally Hassan were a constant thorn in the flesh of the EALA defense testing the goalkeeper at will.  Right full-back Ramadhan Kiptilli overlapped to set Benjamin Simpanga for the first goal. Simpanga who was red-hot, would add the second from a goalmouth melee, leaving EALA custodian Simba Kitwana fat-footed.

Earlier on, Parliament of Burundi rallied from behind to hold favourites Parliament of Burundi 1-1. Parliament of Uganda took the lead in the 12th minute through a goal slotted by Hon Muhammad Nsereko, following spadework by Hon Dennis Obua.  Hon Obua who would later be replaced by Hon Bagume was a constant danger to the Parliament of Burundi running rings round the opponent. Parliament of Burundi occasionally applied pressure on the Parliament of Uganda.  The pressure paid off when defender Hon Musoke held the ball and was red-carded for the offence.   Hon Simon calmly slotted in the equalizer sending keeper Dan Ssekide the wrong way.

In men’s volleyball, Parliament of Burundi defeated Parliament of Uganda 3-1 in sets of (25-23), (25-16), (13-25) and (25-21).   In the second match of the day, EALA lost to Parliament of Kenya 3 sets to 1 (25-15), (25-14), (20- 25) and (25-17). In women’s volleyball, Parliament of Kenya versus Parliament of Tanzania ended 3 sets to 0 in favour of the latter registering identical scores of (25-12), (2512) and subsequently, (25-11)

In netball, Parliament of Uganda defeated Parliament of Burundi 69-21 in a one-sided match. In the second match of the day, Parliament of Tanzania won Parliament of Kenya 52-29 at the ENS Grounds.

On Saturday, athletics and golf shall take center stage at the Olympique Stade and Roca Golf Club respectively.
