East African Legislative Assembly, Arusha, Tanzania: 2 June 2023: The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) shall hold its sitting in Arusha, Tanzania, next week. The Fourth Meeting of the First Session of the Fifth Assembly takes place from Sunday, June 11th, 2023 to Saturday, June 24th, 2023.
The Assembly is to be presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Joseph Ntakirutimana. Top on the agenda during the two week period is debate on the EAC Supplementary Budget for the Financial Year 2022/2023 and the EAC Budget for Financial Year 2023/2024.
The House is further expected to consider a report of the Committee on Regional Affairs and Conflict Resolution on the oversight activity to assess the progress made in the development of the draft EAC Refugee Management Policy.
The House will also receive and debate on the report of the Committee on Accounts on the Oversight activity visit to the East African Health Research Commission to assess the performance of the Institution.
EALA Sittings are held under the principle of rotation in line with Article 55 of the EAC Treaty.
EALA held its last Sitting in March 2023 in Bujumbura, Burundi.
