East African Legislative Assembly, Arusha, Tanzania: 19th May 2021: The Assembly late yesterday mourned the fallen former Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Natural Resources and Tourism, late Hon. Mathias Kasamba.
The House passed a Resolution condoling with the Government of the Republic of Uganda, family and friends of the late Hon Mathias Kasamba who passed away in Kampala on April 27th, 2021. The regional Assembly paid tribute to the late Hon. Mathias Kasamba for his outstanding selfless service to the people of the Republic of Uganda and the East African Community.
The Resolution moved by Hon Dr. Abdullah Hasnuu Makame and seconded by Hon George S. Odongo termed the late Hon Kasamba as illustrious during his life.
“Hon. Kasamba through the activities and programmes that he steered on the Committee on Agriculture, Natural Resources and Tourism including leading the processing of the East African Lake Victoria Basin Commission Bill which was passed by this Assembly under the tenure of Hon. Kasamba, and his tireless efforts to raise the budgetary allocation of the Partner States to agriculture,” the Resolution says.
The Resolution seconded was supported by Hon Eng. Mohamed Habib Mnyaa, Hon Kennedy Musyoka, Hon Simon Mbugua, Hon Mary Mugyenyi, Hon Francoise Uwumukiza, Hon Pierre Rwigema, Hon Dr Woda J Odok, Hon Maryam Ussi, Hon Alaak Garang Gabriel and Hon Alex Bahati
EALA Speaker, Rt Hon Martin K Ngoga recently sent a message of condolence to the Government of Uganda and to the friends and relatives of the late Hon Kasamba.
“ An Inspirational, hard working, humorous Man always leading and showing the way to success. His legacy will live on in the Hearts of Many. ”, the message of the EALA Speaker said in part.
The Late Hon. Mathias Kasamba joined the Assembly as one of the 9 Members elected by the Parliament of Uganda in March 2017 to represent Uganda for 5 years in the 4th Assembly from 2017 to 2022.
The Committee, the Members of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Natural Resources and Tourism unanimously elected Honourable Mathias Kasamba to lead the Committee as its first Chairperson in the 4th Assembly.
