The EALA Assembly presided over by the Speaker, Hon Abdirahin Haithar Abdi, on the 6th December at the 2nd Meeting of the 4th Session in the Chambers of the Parliament of Uganda Swore in the newly appointed Tanzanian Minister for East African Community Affairs, Hon. Samwel Sita (Former Speaker Parliament of Tanzania together with Hon Nsabimana Yves and Hon.Bucumi Emerence both from the Republic of Burundi as new Members to the EALA.
One of the newly Sworn in Burundi members replaces Dr Sabine Ntakarutimana, who was recently appointment as Burundi’s Minister of Health and HIV.
In September at the 1st Meeting of the 4th Session in the Chambers of the Parliament of Burundi the Speaker of the EALA, also swore in Hon. Prof. Hellen Sambili, Minister of EAC Affairs (Kenya) as an ex-officio Member of the Assembly during this Meeting.
The EALA’s Membership consists of a total of 52, of whom 45 are elected Members (9 from each Partner State) and seven ex-officio members (the Ministers responsible for EAC Affairs from the Partner States, the Secretary General of the Community and the Counsel to the Community).
