At a ceremony held at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, the East African Community officially transitioned leadership from outgoing Secretary General SGNduva to incoming Secretary General Amb. Stephen P. Mbundi. The event, attended by EAC organs, partners, and stakeholders, featured Uganda’s Minister of State for EAC Affairs, Hon. James Magode Ikuya, as Chief Guest on behalf of Uganda’s Vice President. Staff and partners honored the outgoing Secretary General for her significant contributions over 22 months, including advances in regional integration and institutional strengthening, while warmly welcoming Amb. Mbundi with confidence in his leadership to advance a prosperous, united East Africa. The handover reaffirmed the EAC’s commitment to continuity, unity, and shared regional aspirations.
