EAC Continues Impressive Show in the Parliamentary Football Games

Whips Bunge FC of Kenya 2-1. The EAC/EALA team registered a 2-1 win over Kenya’s Bunge FC in a thriller played at the Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium this afternoon. The team has now completed the first round unbeaten.

Striker Meshack Nyambele opened the scoring for the EAC team a minute to half-time to give the winners a half-time lead.  In the second half, the EAC piled pressure on the Parliament of Kenya team.  Midfielder Emmanuel Diah was brought down in the box by Naman Agengo.  Wyclif Ketto stepped up and slotted the ball past Bunge FC’s Keeper, Hon Richard Onyonka to stretch his team’s lead further.

Bunge FC had earlier on missed a clear chance when Hon David Koech’s shot hit the woodwork with the EAC’s goalkeeper Joseph Mawalla beaten.

Hon Ababu Namwamba scored in the 59th Minute to reduce the deficit for his team.  Both EAC and the Bunge FC team shall now proceed to the next round.  EAC has 6 points while Bunge FC finished with the group stages with a point.  The Parliament of Tanzania who lost 3-1 to EAC yesterday lie third also with one point.

Uganda who beat Burundi 1-0 on Day 1, lead Group A. Both teams however qualify for the next round following the withdrawal of Rwanda due to unavoidable circumstances.

Tomorrow, Friday, November 25, 2011 is a rest day.

Meanwhile, Parliament of Tanzania has lodged an appeal against the outcome of the match played yesterday.  The Parliament of Tanzania is appealing for a replay terming yesterday’s officiating against the EAC biased.  “ The cards given yesterday to William Ngeleja (Hon) and Mark Tanda were uncalled for”, a section of the letter signed by the Secretary of the Parliamentary Team, Carlos Kidiru and availed to the Organisers’ states.  The Disciplinary Committee meets tomorrow morning to listen to the appeal. 

The Inter-Parliamentary Football Tournament 2011 marks part of the celebrations of the 10th Anniversary celebrations of EALA.
