Curtains close on 9th IPG

East African Legislative Assembly, Bujumbura, Burundi: December 10th 2018: the curtains closed on the 9th Inter-Parliamentary Games in Bujumbura, Burundi.

In soccer, Uganda finished the table standing top with 10 points following a 4-1 thrashing over a faded EALA.  Katumba Godfrey’s double, Hon Muhammad Nsereko and Hon Andrew Kaluya were enough, consigning EALA at the bottom with 3 points.  In an earlier match, Parliament of Tanzania blanked Parliament of Burundi 2-0 to climb to a second place finish in the table with 9 points.

In the volleyball men’s category, Parliament of Burundi won Parliament of Tanzania by 3 Sets to 1 of (25-14) (25-18) (18-25) and 25-12). In the second match of the day, in men’s category, Parliament of Uganda and EALA ended 3 sets in favour of the former.  Parliament of Uganda scooped (25-19), (25-24) and (25-19)

In women’s volleyball, Parliament of Burundi defeated EALA 3 Sets to 0 (25-7), (25-9) and (25-14). In the last match, Parliament of Tanzania’s women’s volleyball lost 2 Sets to 3 to Parliament of Burundi in a tight match.

Parliament of Uganda also won the league in netball and women’s Volleyball while Parliament of Burundi scooped the bragging rights for the men’s volleyball.

Speaker of the Burundi National Assembly, Rt Hon Nyabenda Pascal feted all teams at the climax of the event.
