RE:     CONGRATULATIONS AS BURUNDI CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

I present to you my compliments and write to congratulate you and the people of the Republic of Burundi upon marking the 50th Jubilee of Burundi’s independence on July 2, 2012.

Your Excellency, looking back and reflecting on half a century of Burundi’s independence, it is worth noting that today, the country stands as a glimmer of hope. Burundi has continued to make great strides and its development record is encouraging. I note with much satisfaction that under your wise and able leadership, Burundi has continued to enjoy sustained economic development, peace and stability and more so since the Peace Agreement.

The celebrations are apt and deserved and we join in wishing you and all Burundians prosperity.

Your Excellency, allow me to further express my gratitude to you and the citizens of Burundi for the unwavering support to the East African Community. It is humbling to state that your contribution to the EAC has seen the integration process continue to be strengthened.

Please accept my heartfelt congratulations to you and through you to the people of the great nation.

Accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
