EAST AFRICAN LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY TO RESUME PLENARY FROM THE 18th -25th JUNE, 2026 IN ARUSHA

ARUSHA, Tanzania — 17 June 2026: The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is set to resume its plenary proceedings with the convening of the 3rd Meeting of the 4th Session of the 5th Assembly, scheduled to take place from 18th to 25th June 2026 at the East African Community (EAC) headquarters in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.

This signals the commencement of a busy legislative period that will see the Assembly deliberate on critical financial and legislative matters affecting the East African Community.


Induction of New Members


A notable highlight of the plenary session will be the induction of new Members of Parliament from two Partner States — the Federal Republic of Somalia and the newly elected members to EALA from the United Republic of Tanzania — scheduled for Saturday, 20th June 2026.

The Assembly's legislative agenda will feature several significant items, including:

•Presentation of the EAC Budget Speech for FY 2026/2027
•Debate on the Report of the Committee on General Purpose on the Supplementary Budget Estimates
