EAC Confered Global Award for Quality

Secretary General feted in Paris alongside other celebrated companies. The effort of the EAC Secretariat in propelling the integration process has received international acclamation with the EAC Secretariat recently scooping the Business Initiative Directions (BID) International Star for Leadership Award in Paris, France. Present to receive the award at the convention was the EAC Secretary General, Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera.

The award is presented to universal companies and institutions that strive for excellence and innovation in their practices and put quality first in their scheme of things.  According to the organisers, the EAC won the accolade for excelling in quality and creating a competitive edge. The Secretariat was recognised for its dedication to innovation while abiding by the principles of the QC100 Total Quality Management Model. The BID Group thus hailed the EAC for its commendable commitment to work.

‘The EAC Secretariat spends every day excelling instead of yielding to negative situations or the pressures of the current global economy’, a statement from the organisers said in part.

The Secretary General, Amb Dr. Richard Sezibera shared the achievements of the Community as well as the bloc’s future plans with the delegates from the 57 countries in attendance.  Present at the gala were the EAC Deputy Secretary General, Hon Jesca Eriyo and the Chef de Cabinet, Steve Machage.

Other winners recognised at the Paris event included Barrandov Studio, one of the largest studios in the world, Ecuador’s leading petroleum company, PetroOriental and Summit Power Ltd, an Independent Power Producer providing power to the national grid in Bangladesh.

Previous winners of the Award include global companies on the Fortune 500 list such as Wal-Mart Stores, India Oil Corporation Limited, Korea Electric Power and the Tata Group of India.
