On behalf of the East African Legislative Assembly and indeed on my own behalf, may I extend to Your Excellency my heartfelt congratulations upon your re-election as President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Your deserved victory is a testimony by the people of Tanzania about your great achievements in the first tenure of your office and a vote of confidence that you will deliver on your new pledges in the years to come.
We in the other parts of the East African Community continue to admire the maturity with which the United Republic of Tanzania has exhibited in the political arena since independence which has led to this great nation to be the most stable and peaceful over the years. This year’s election exhibited the same maturity and to which we salute Your Excellency, your Government, the opposition parties and the people of Tanzania for showing the world that peaceful, free and fair elections can be held in Africa.
I pledge our total support to you and pray for your good health so that in the years to come, you will continue to spearhead the vision for a prosperous stable and United East Africa.
