Kenya dominates in the athletics

…Kenya to face-off with Rwanda in both men and women volleyball finals

East African Legislative Assembly, Nairobi, Kenya: 9th December 2016: Kenya has scooped the 4 x 400 relay men and the 1500 men’s races at the Mbaraki Sports Club as the Inter-Parliamentary Games Tournament entered Day 5.

In the Women’s races, Parliament of Uganda scooped the 1500 metres with Hon Maureen Osoro coming first. Compatriot, Hon Adeke Anne finished second while the third place went to Hon Anna Gidarya of Tanzania.

In the 1500 metres, former Boston Marathon Champion and Cherengany legislator, Hon Wesley Korir came first and followed closely by Uganda’s Hon Julius Acon Bua.

In the Women’s 4 x 400 meters, Team Uganda consisting of Hon Adeke Anne, Hon Maureen Osoro, Hon Acen Christine and Hon Karungi Elizabeth scooped the first place.  Parliament of Tanzania came second while third place went to Parliament of Kenya.

In volleyball men semifinals, Parliament of Kenya beat EALA 2 sets to 0 (25-22) and 25-15 to set a stage for the finals with Parliament of Rwanda.

In the second match, Parliament of Rwanda beat Parliament of Uganda 2 sets to 0 (25-19) and (25-12). 

In the women’s volleyball game, Parliament of Kenya beat EALA 2 sets to 0 (25-11 and 25-16). They will now meet with Parliament of Rwanda who also beat Tanzania 2 sets to 0 (25-23 and 25-23) in the finals.

In netball, Parliament of Uganda beat vs Parliament of Tanzania 35-26 in an entertaining match at the same venue.

The semi-final of the match will be played today featuring EALA and Parliament of Uganda in the first match before Parliament of Burundi lock horns with Parliament of Tanzania.
