EALA Speaker Condoles President Museveni on Kampala Bomb Attacks

The Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon Abdirahin Abdi on behalf of the Assembly, sent a message of condolence to the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on the recent bomb attacks in Kampala, Uganda.

The letter conveyed to State House, Uganda read in part, “Your Excellency… On behalf of the East African Legislative Assembly and on my own behalf, I write to truly convey to Your Excellency, the Government, the bereaved families and all the people of Uganda our sincere and most heartfelt condolences in these trying moments.”

In his message the Speaker further expressed shock and sadness to learn that so many innocent Ugandans who were peacefully celebrating the finals of the World Cup had abruptly lost their lives through such cowardice and merciless acts at the hands of suicide bombers.

The Speaker emphasized that the unending loss of lives for so many innocent people through such terrorist acts continues to remind us as the East African Community of the difficult times we live in and the need to fight on so that the world is freed from such skewed and empty ideologies.
