EALA dethroned in soccer

…Parliament of Uganda beats former champs 3-0, sets up finale with Parliament of Burundi

East African Legislative Assembly, Nairobi, Kenya: 8th December 2016:

Football defending Champions, EALA are out of contention.  The team lost 0-3 to Parliament of Uganda in a pulsating match at the Mbaraki Sports Grounds. Parliament of Uganda now have set a date with Parliament of Burundi in the finals on Saturday, December 11th, 2016.

Right winger, and Captain of Parliament of Uganda, Hon Dennis Obua, was the destroyer in chief. As early as the 5th minute, Hon Obua beat Hon Emmanuel Nengo on the right flank and floated a ball which Arinaitwe Brian converted to give the victors an early lead.

Midfield maestro, Edison Webinga then dribbled past Wyclif Ketto and Hon Emmanuel Nengo before putting in through Mohammed Nsereko.  Hon Nsereko calmly controlled the ball, and fired past the EALA goalkeeper to give Parliament of Uganda 2-0 lead.

The victors dominated the better part of the first half, heading to the break ahead.

In the second half, EALA came back a slightly rejuvenated side. However, another defensive lapse saw Hon Mohammed Nsereko beat the defence line to score the third goal for his side.

Parliament of Burundi played a determined game beating Parliament of Tanzania 1-0 in the first semi-final match at the same venue. Parliament of Burundi controlled the entire game and pinned down their opponents even further in the second half.  Richard Ndayisenga missed two scoring opportunities as the game went into half-time goalless.

On resumption, the match was a balanced affair with both sides making counter-attacks.  However, a counter-attack from Burundi resulted in a corner kick.  Taking the resultant corner kick, Richard Ndayisenga floated a ball that found Jean Marie Cimpaye who beat Hon Hassan Bobali in goal to give Parliament of Burundi a 1-0 lead.

The match ended with Parliament of Burundi holding on to the lead to set up a final with Parliament of Uganda on Saturday this week.

The finals will be preceded by the 3rd and 4th playoff pitting EALA and Parliament of Tanzania.
